It's all about the Black Leather Mini Skirt
February 20, 2021One thing I love about the black leather mini skirt is that it’s
unseasonal. I can wear it all year round, creating multiple versatile looks, based
on my mood. Whether paired with an oversized knit and patterned tights in winter, or a plain tee and denim jacket for summer,
the black leather mini skirt always has my back. I got this number from Zara
years ago and it has been part of my capsule wardrobe ever since. Because of my
body shape, I always go a size up for a bit more length so it can fully cover
my bum. This particular leather mini has a classic 60’s A-line cut which emphasises the waist,
while helping create the illusion of longer legs.
This look is from an ensemble I put together the last time it was sunny, and we could do bare legs. My ‘Align The Star’ t-shirt gives a it slightly rock chick vibe but if I wanted to go edgier, I’d also wear it with my chunky biker boots and a heavier eyeliner.
As I mentioned in one of my other mini skirt posts, for a very long time, I hated my legs and my thighs. One of the wonderful things that happens to you as you get older is that as your confidence grows, you care less and less about what other people think. My short legs and thick thighs might not be perfect or the ‘beauty ideal’ but if you have a love of fashion, you’ll always find a style that works for you. When it comes to the leather mini skirt, the A-line or skater silhouette work best for me. Anything that’s too tight or figure hugging wouldn’t be flattering for me, as well as anything too long, flowy or baggy, that would just swallow me up. Once I have a high waist A-line or skater mini skirt. I’m all good. Also want to point out that all my leather skirts and pants are actually faux leather. I never have a problem with the faux leather fabric as it still has longevity but is cheaper and better for the environment. What’s your go-to leather skirt silhouette?
