What’s not to love about a bottomless brunch? A three hour session where you can eat and drink as much like when you’ve already paid for it? Winning! The slightly difficult decision is choosing what to wear when you’re fully aware that your stomach is going to double (sometimes triple) in size, but you may end up going out afterwards. Enter my stretch jersey maxi skirt! I’ve had this skirt for years and it always comes in handy when I need a casual but smart outfit. The soft stretchy fabric and elastic waist means I can eat comfortably, while the dark green colour and soft pleats smartens it up. I dressed up the look with one of my lace body suits (which must worn with a dark bra underneath), leather jacket and aviator sunglasses. As this particular brunch was more chilled out, I went for my black Adidas trainers to stay comfortable. Obviously these photos were taken before we went into the restaurant as any that were taken an hour later after a few glasses of bubbly would not have made the cut. It’s a wonderful thing when you discover the colour that works best for you and your skin tone and in my case, it’s green. Whenever I wear anything green, compliments tend to come my way so … well obviously, I’m going to wear more green right? As soon as I spotted this dress on Instagram, it had to be mine.  Maxi dresses are part of my must have staples for summer so when I found this green ruffle dress from Boohoo (via ASOS), it was a no-brainer. The tiered design is so pretty, along with its plunge V-neckline and spaghetti straps. I also love the crochet detailing above the waist, as it gives a flattering waist and bust silhouette. I’ve worn it about six times to all sorts of events including a wedding reception, night out, holiday and a posh brunch. It’s so versatile and classy, I feel like it will be the gift that keeps on giving. I did have to go a size up as the fit is snug, and need to rein in my love for pasta when wearing it. Unfortunately, these dresses are now sold out but there lots more out there with a similar style. What is your go-to colour? What works for you?

One of my favourite things to do when Summer’s here is getting my clothes out of storage and rummaging through (kind of like being in a vintage shop). Let’s face it, we don’t see our Summer wardrobes for six months of the year so when we do, it’s kind of like a reunion! I think it’s important to go through your wardrobe every quarter because we forget about the clothes we have. This dress for example, is over 12 years old and I still love it. It’s simple, light and airy, and I can throw it on during those ridiculously hot days. I also love the Aztec print and slightly layered hem so it’s short but also covers my arse. I bought this in Forever 21 for about $20 when I was living in LA and it’s still going strong. This goes to show that good quality clothes don’t necessarily have to be super expensive and can last if you look after them. It could also be that my Summer stuff lasts longer because I don’t use them for half of the year, so I need to make sure I audit my clothes regularly (to avoid buying new ones I don’t need). What’s the oldest piece of clothing you own and still wear?

Just a quick post to announce a tip- Do NOT wear any type of PVC, leather, pleather or Vinyl pants unless it’s pretty much sub-zero outside. I made the biggest mistake trying to attempt to wear these in the middle of Spring and I can confirm that even though they look good, they are NOT to be taken out of storage till it's practically snowing outside. They’re hot, uncomfortable, make weird noises when you walk and unbearable when you sit down. They also make you sweat so if you’re going to be spending time anywhere inside that’s warm, wear layers you can easily remove. Having said that, I love the wet vinyl look and can’t wait to wear them again when it gets a bit colder (the things we do for fashion).
