I don’t have a
huge number of mini's but this floral mini skirt is a keeper. I bought it in
the ASOS sale with little expectations and I love it. The ruffle design and high- rise waist gives me a flattering fit and I don’t feel as self-conscious wearing it. The bright
floral print is perfect for summer and versatile to wear with denim, leather or
other bold prints. Guaranteed I'll be living in this over the next few weeks, especially in this heat! What's not to love about the ultimate floral mini skirt in Summer.
I know. I’m
pulling out the stops for yet again for another premium photoshoot which I of course
had to share with you guys! Jokes aside, this is a quick post to promote being confident in your own skin. As you know, I shaved off my
hair last year because I was tired of letting it control me. Years of misuse
and bad treatment totally ruined it. Though it has grown
back over the last few months, it's not how my hair used to be. It's weak, uneven, patchy and
frankly, in a terrible state. Because of this, I've decided keep it shaved off, mixing it up my selection of wigs (mood, outfit or weather depending). I wear my
hair both ways but it has taken me a while to be comfortable with this look. Finally,
I am.I’ve accepted my natural hair in
its natural state and even though I love to wear wigs, I’ve equally embraced my true self which I believe, is what you can see in these photos. It’s been a process but
I am finally at a place where all versions of me is just fine. Additionally, having
a shaved head comes in very handy in the summer when you feel light, sweat free
and the sun hits you right in the back of your neck. ....Lush
When I sketched a bunch of African inspired designs a while back, I never dreamed I would get them made, let alone reap
the rewards of wearing them all! I love that they are one off creations
made to measure, and a perfect representation of my personal style. My favourite pieces (that seem to be getting worn over and over again) are my skater skirt, peplum top and maxi dress. Every time I wear them, I get an abundance of comments, compliments and queries asking where I bought them. I must admit...it’s pretty awesome knowing that no one can buy them anywhere and that they my very own limited edition, but I would love to create a clothing line inspired by West
African prints and modern-day fashion. Would you buy it?
Summer clothes tend
to last me years (thanks to our short Summers) but I do like to
top up my wardrobe when I come across something I like. This gorgeous pleated
maxi dress from ASOS (now sold out) is a great beach dress as it can transition from the beach to the bar.
Featuring a lace trim and V-neckline, the marble printed fabric also has a flattering elasticated waistband and cut-out detail. I love the pleated
skirt and the way the adjustable cami
straps fall, making it super comfortable. I wore this on my recent trip to Mallorca and it was the ideal dress for the day trip to Palma. This will be coming out for many summers to come....
I love
a mini break. There’s nothing better than a cheeky 3-4-day trip to recharge
some batteries, escape to sun and over indulge in good food and wine. I’m
actually preferring mini getaways than week-long holidays, especially in
Europe. Last weekend, my friend and I went to Mallorca, visiting a charming
resort in the South East Coast called Porto Colom. We were only there for 3
days so most of our time was spent relaxing and eating. Traditionally known as a fishing village,
the main feature of Porto Colom is its large natural harbour where you’ll see a
number of working fishing boats alongside luxury yachts and speedboats. I loved
the quiet, laid back aspect of this town, and even though we went before the
busy season, you can tell that it offers a more peaceful setting. If you’re
looking to catch up on sleep, read, eat lots and have quiet drinks at local
bars, this is the place for you. We stayed at the lovely Hotel Vistamar who gave us a spacious air conditioned room and balcony, overlooking the port. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough to basque in the sun all day (mid- May) so we got to explore some of Porto Colom’s beautiful beaches, miniature coves and country towns. We of course also made the most out of being so close to the harbour.
We also managed a day trip to Palma where we indulged in Tapas, a spot of shopping and a few hours at the famous
Palma Nova beach. We happened to be there the same weekend of the royal wedding
so found a local bar with a TV and cried like babies! Mini breaks are great because you are forced to
squeeze in as many activities possible in a short space of time. But I totally
get needing that 7, 10 day or even two week holiday, where you can give your
body proper time to unwind and relax. I would definitely visit Porto Colom
again, perhaps somewhere I would take my parents or future family. Top marks from me
Hello. Thanks for visiting my blog. I started it in 2011 because I love all aspects of fashion which I like to interpret it in my own way to suit my style and body shape. Might be a bit of shopaholic though I've got better over the years, always picking up one thing or another to throw a cute outfit together. As people kept commenting on my clothes and kept asking , 'where did you buy that?', it seemed like the perfect blog title. I'm a cross between an investment buyer and a bargain hunter, mixing the two, with a passion for tailor made African print designs .In the last decade, the blog has expanded out into other interests including travel, beauty and general lifestyle. Welcome! Please do comment or get in touch if you have any questions
