So I've been seeing and hearing about all these illusion dresses that are supposed to make you look two sizes smaller and was of course skeptical. Kate Winslet did look amazing in the curve hugging Stella McCartney number but i just couldn't figure out how they work on different body shapes. That was all before I came across this lovely
dress from h&m.I was just browsing at the last of the sales when i spotted it and tried it on just to see what the fuss was about. Not only was it a surprisingly good fit, it actually did make my waist look smaller! (maybe not two dress sizes but definitely smaller). It seems like colour blocking has finally been put to good use by outlining lovely feminine shapes while simultaneously moving eyes away from all that is unflattering. Having also picked it up in the sale I am extremely pleased with this buy!
We all have those days when we need some support.... clothing support that is. Winter tends to make me eat more hearty food and as the pounds pile on, it's all about wearing clothes to hide a 1000 sins. I've been looking for high waisted jeans and leggings for a while now so when I came across these from Zara, I had to get them in blue and black! The thing I love about these leggings is that they are really smart. You can dress them up with a pair of high heels in the evening, wear them in the day time with some flat knee high boots or a pair of converse and even smarten them up for work with a blazer or shirt. I love things in my wardbrobe that are versitaile and can be worn in different ways and these leggings are it! You will also notice that the model wearing them is a compleletly different shape to me (she's straight, I'm curvy) which means it's also flattering for women with hips and curves. I like the fact they have a waistband to hold me in and at the bargain price of £20.00, you can't really go wrong. I love love love them!
Coach is a relitively new brand in the UK having opened both its stores this year at Westfield London and then at New Bond St. As I used to live in the US, I am familiar with the brand and can totally see why this collaboratiom was a match made in heaven.
Firstly if you read Fashion Foie Gras blog as i regularly do, you'll see that her style not only matches the Coach brand, but that the bag itself is a fantastic concept for busy bloggers on the run who need all their essentials in one bag; the camera, the mobile, the ipad, the flat shoes, it's got compartments for everything!
As a blogger you are often running from one event to another and sometimes straight from work so you really need a practical bag that not only looks good but can bascially hold everything!
I think it's really clever for brands like Coach to collaborate with everyday people with everyday needs. It's all very well putting a celebrity face on a new bag but we don't have their budget or lifestyle so how can we relate to them?
If I'm going to buy a bag with a huge price tag, it needs to be an investment piece. It needs to be practical and a timeless and be able to last me years! I've met Emily quite a few times now and this bag really expresses her busy life which gives it total authenticity.
The launch party was a fun night and it was really good to see familiar faces as well as meeting a bunch of cool new bloggers! Congratulations to Emily on a great collaboration and great bag. Couldn't have happened to a nicer blogger :-)
