My 2016 Goals

January 15, 2016

Belated Happy New Year to you, hope you all got want you wanted out of 2015, and if you didn't, hope it allowed you to grow. If I had to use one word to describe the past year, it would be productive. I made big decisions, I went with my gut, I took risks and I'm in a much better place for it. That’s not to say I still haven’t got a long way to go in terms of what I want to achieve, but I'm getting there.
Looking back at my goals from last year, I’d say I've made a conscious effort to do more (or less) of what I promised myself on the list. Am I reading a book a month? Hell no! Do I worry or procrastinate less? Not a chance. I can’t help it because it’s in my nature. What I am beginning to embrace is living in the moment and worrying about what I'm doing this weekend as opposed to where I’ll be in 5 years’ time. The control freak in me wants to plan and predict the future but I'm slowly coming to realise that you can’t control everything. You can work hard, be proactive, be positive and put yourself in situations to better your odds, but you can’t control fate, chance or luck.
My new thing for 2016 is to live for the now and enjoy the moment! Appreciate all that you are and all that you have now because once upon a time, you wanted to be here 10 years ago, or even a year ago!
Spend time with your loved ones, indulge in the guilty pleasures you enjoy, worry less about acquiring things and more about people. Do more of what makes you happy now than dream about your happy place in 5 years’time. Be grateful for everything you have because somewhere else in the world, you’re living the life of a rock star. And finally (most importantly) do something that you’ll be remembered for when you leave this earth. Happy 2016!
My happy moment = In the sunshine, with my bestie, eating a doughnut!
